Saturday – March 28, 1998  –  Casablanca to SF via New York

We have breakfast in the hotel and then are off to the airport. On the bus ride, Larbi helped us review all that we had seen in Morocco. We recited the Arabic words and phrases learned over the past 2 weeks, but which I can, now, no longer remember. We all gave thank-you gifts and tips to our driver, his helper and our wonderful guide. Larbi escorted us all the way through passenger and baggage check-in and left us at the gate area to await our flight to New York.

The flight home was crowded, and somehow seemed longer than the one going to Morocco. We arrived in New York on time and Martha and I managed to get seats on an earlier flight to San Francisco than the one we had originally booked. We were glad to be home, but I know I will always carry something of Morocco with me that will impact my vision of life. In the words of Mark Twain - "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindedness". For me, traveling provides the golden opportunity to experience not only the diversity of many cultures, but also the ways our differences combine to create something truly unique and beautiful. I look forward to the next adventure!
