Saturday – March 14, 1998   –  New York to Casablanca

The alarm rings at 4 am! SuperShuttle is to pick us up at 6 am for a 7:45 am flight from San Francisco to JFK, where we will meet Martha’s parents, Marian and Phil. We arrived in New York on time, and Marian meets us at the American Airlines baggage claim area. She and Phil have traveled from St. Paul, changing planes in Detroit. Unfortunately, their 2 suitcases did not change planes with them and would not be traveling to Morocco today! The four of us check in for our Royal Air Maroc flight to Casablanca, which departs on time at 7:30 pm. The 5½-hour, overnight flight is crowded, but the service is very satisfactory, and the meals are especially good. However, while eating dinner, a thin layer of my front tooth chips away. I am anxious that a Moroccan dentist might become necessary if it breaks further. The tooth, however, remained stable throughout the trip and although it felt different, there was no discomfort or pain.
