Drive 2011 - July to September in MN

On Wednesday, July 6, we arrived in St. Paul MN (Twin Cities map), at the conclusion of Part 3 (MN to TX) of our Drive 2011.

Thursday July 7, we spent the day with friends (9 photos). Merrily picked us up and drove us to Muffuletta's in St. Anthony Park, and Lorraine met us there. After a delightful lunch, we rode with Merrily while she did errands at Best Buy and Target. As she dropped us back home, we accepted her invitation to come for dinner. Lorraine picked us up around 7, and we rode to Merrily's for a fine meal, and lots of laughs.
Friday, July 8, Dianne and I were invited to Cindy and Bob's for dinner (9 photos). We always enjoy spending time with them, love Cindy's cooking, and thoroughly appreciate the gardening she does, both at her home and at "ours". Check it out!
Saturday, July 16 was Day 2 of the leaking roof (25 photos). Neighbors Wayne, Cindy, and Bob helped Dianne and Martha create a temporary stop-gap repair until the roofers come to repair/replace the 24-year-old roof. If you look closely, you'll see the Big Buck that came to visit our mini-Village.
Monday, August 15 began Day 1 of the roof replacement project (40 photos). We contracted with Jeff Nelsen Roofing from White Bear to replace the roof. Another Jeff and Willy did the bulk of the job, but this slideshow shows many others were involved also. Be sure to notice the 3 videos, which show the lifting of supplies up on to the roof, and the delivery of the debris box.
Tuesday, August 16 began Day 2 of the roof replacement (40 photos). The process itself was fascinating to watch, but the fast and furious rain of the evening (25 photos) turned our roof replacement project into a nightmare. Rain poured through the ceiling, in both the study and the living room, and the garage itself was drenched. What happened?!!
